A Dual-National’s Quest to Empower Marginalized Voices Through Speech
4 Apr, 2025
Standing at the crossroads of continents, cultures, and conversations, Mohammad Tabrizian is not just a public speaker—he’s a bridge. A bridge between East and West, between tradition and transformation, between voices that are heard and those that are still finding the courage to speak.
As someone who holds dual residency in both the UAE and the UK, Mohammad Tabrizian embodies what it means to live and lead between worlds. But it’s not just geography that defines his journey—it’s the mission he’s embraced along the way: to empower marginalized voices through the transformative art of speech.
The Roots of a Global Voice
Born and raised in the UAE, Tabrizian’s academic and personal path has always been shaped by the power of expression. While pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies at the University of Sharjah, he began noticing a recurring pattern—many young people had stories, ideas, and dreams, but lacked the tools or platforms to share them.
This observation became the foundation of his final-year project, The Power of Spoken Word in Emirati Youth Engagement, and the catalyst for what would become his life’s work.
After earning his Master’s in Public Speaking & Professional Communication from the University of Leeds, he expanded his focus to a more global audience. His research into parliamentary speeches and TEDx talks led him to one profound conclusion: speech is not a luxury—it’s a form of empowerment.
Giving Voice to the Unheard
What sets Mohammad apart is his commitment to the voices that are often left out of mainstream platforms—youth, women, immigrants, and minority communities.
While working with the UAE Ministry of Youth Affairs from 2016 to 2019, he led workshops across the Emirates aimed at teaching leadership through communication. But more importantly, he listened. He listened to stories of resilience, identity, and quiet strength. And he realized that many of these voices only needed one thing to thrive: permission to speak.
That permission became a platform—Eloquence Academy.
Founded in London in 2019, Eloquence Academy is more than just a training institute. It’s a safe space. A creative laboratory. A launchpad. Here, people from all backgrounds are taught to tell their stories with clarity, confidence, and cultural sensitivity. From refugee students to female entrepreneurs, the academy has helped hundreds find not just their voice, but their power.
Bridging More Than Borders
The theme of bridging runs throughout Mohammad’s life. His book, Bridging the Gulf: Stories of Speaking Between Cultures, captures his own journey of navigating identity between the Arab world and the West. It’s part memoir, part manual—a heartfelt exploration of how cross-cultural communication can be both challenging and profoundly beautiful.
In the book, he writes:
“You don’t have to choose between where you’re from and where you’re going. You can speak from both.”
Through his podcast Voices Beyond Borders, he dives deeper into conversations around diaspora, identity, and representation, inviting guests from all walks of life to explore how their unique voices shape their paths.
A New Definition of Leadership
For Tabrizian, leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about the courage to speak when it’s easier to stay silent. His work consistently challenges outdated narratives of who gets to be heard and why.
Whether lecturing at the University of Birmingham or leading storytelling nights in Sharjah and London, his message remains consistent: everyone has a story worth telling. And when people are given the tools to share that story, they begin to take up space—not just on stage, but in society.
The Future of Voice
Mohammad Tabrizian is not just preparing people to speak—he’s preparing them to be heard. In a world where noise often drowns out nuance, his work stands as a quiet revolution.
From the sands of Al Qudra to the classrooms of Leeds, from open mic nights to international summits, he is helping shape a generation of speakers who speak not just for themselves—but for each other.
In bridging cultures, communities, and confidence, Mohammad Tabrizian is proving one thing with undeniable clarity: The future belongs to those who find their voice—and use it to lift others.
