The Unheard Voice: How Youth Can Reshape Public Discourse Through Storytelling

In today’s hyperconnected world, young people are constantly speaking—but are they truly being heard? Scroll through any social platform and you’ll find a flood of content, opinions, and trends. But beneath the noise lies a deeper struggle: many youth lack platforms where their authentic voices can spark real dialogue, influence culture, or impact change. As someone who has worked with students and young professionals across the UAE and the UK, I’ve witnessed a consistent truth—when youth are taught to express their stories with clarity and confidence, they don’t just add to the conversation. They transform it.

Storytelling has always been the heartbeat of human connection. But when taught intentionally, it becomes a revolutionary tool. It empowers individuals to lead, to heal, and to be seen. I’ve stood in classrooms in Sharjah where young Emiratis told tales of personal growth that moved their peers to tears. I’ve sat in lecture halls in Leeds listening to students share experiences of identity and displacement with raw honesty. These weren’t speeches—they were bridges.

During my time as a motivational speaker with the UAE Ministry of Youth Affairs, I dedicated myself to helping young people discover their voice. What I learned was this: youth don’t need help forming ideas—they need someone to listen and to guide them in shaping those ideas into stories that resonate. That’s exactly why I founded Eloquence Academy in London in 2019. Through personalized coaching, workshops, and our annual “Voices of Tomorrow” summit, we give emerging speakers a stage to speak with power and purpose.

Yet the call for storytelling doesn’t stop at professional events or public talks. I believe that every classroom and community space should cultivate a speaking culture. We need to normalize the act of standing up and telling one’s story—not just to perform, but to reflect, to connect, and to lead.

One of the most profound things I’ve observed is the way storytelling transcends culture. With a foot in both Emirati and British worlds, I’ve seen how a young girl in Abu Dhabi and a teenage boy in London can tell entirely different stories, yet still echo the same themes—identity, struggle, resilience, hope. That is the magic of voice. It travels. It unites. And it transforms.

My life’s mission is rooted in a simple belief: when you give someone a voice, you give them agency. And when that voice belongs to a young person, the ripple effect is extraordinary.

As Mohammad Tabrizian, a public speaker, writer, and cross-cultural communication advocate, I am committed to building platforms where unheard voices rise—louder, stronger, and more confidently than ever before. Whether it’s through my books, lectures, or podcast Voices Beyond Borders, everything I do is built around one purpose: helping the next generation realize that their stories matter—and that they’re not just part of the future conversation… they’re shaping it now.
